Bittorrent is a popular way to share files
I will show you how to download movies from bittorrent.
Why use bittorrent when you can use rapidshare or another free file host?
Because bittorrent has no waiting time, and works in a whole differant way.
Sites like rapidshare work like this.
A person uploads a file to rapid share.
Rapid share keeps hat file in 1 or more servers
Then when people want to download that file, Rapidshares servers have to give that file to each person.

Bittorrent works in a differant way.
The person who wants to share the file, sends it directly from his/her computer to someone elses computer.
THen that person sends it on to 1 or more people,
then those people send it on to more people,
and it just keeps on going.

However, to download something you need to know who to get it from,
thats what a torrent file is for.
A torrent file is a tiny file that takes seconds to downlodad,
it tells your computer where to get the files from and then your computer starts to get the files.

Now that you know how it works, you need a bittorrent client to download things with.
I suggest
Utorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/) for Windows and Transmission (http://transmission.m0k.org/) For mac

For torrent files I suggest rlslog (http://rlslog.net/)
When you get a torrent file, open it with transmission/utorrent and it will start to download.

If you have a firewall it will really slow it down,
both programs can most of the time do it automaticly,
but fo help look a tthe utorrent readme or the help menu in transmisssion.

To check if the qaulity is good before you download I recomend Vcd Quality (http://www.vcdquality.com/)

then when I tried transmission I never went back.
I think I remember the offical one not working very well with any torrent not from mrtwig.net :D

Have you downloaded movies from this thread or from bttorrent that come with a lot of 15mb parts.
Or if from here in 100mb parts(since that is the rapidshare filesize limit)
Well I will show you how to get your movie.

Why do movies from bittorrent sometimes come in 15mb parts?
Because the movie was downloaded from a newsgroup.
A newsgroup is another way to download files.
The way a newsgroup works is that people post messages(or files)
but each message/file has a size limit of around 15mb.
So when someone wants to post a movie to a newsgroup, they first have to split it up into 15mb parts.


How to Deal with Rars
Mac
The program that has worked best for me is called Gui Tar.

Now if the files are in .R00 .R01 .R02 ,etc
open the one file that says .rarbe sure to open it with gui tar
right click>open with> Gui Tar

now gui tar may look like its freezing up and not doing anything but it is.
Just keep looking at the new avi file, selecting something else in the finder, then select the .avi again. Notice how it getting bigger?

Then open the .AVI in your player of choice (I suggest VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)

Here is an easy way to get premium status sign up for an account on
mega upload and then download the toolbar and when it's installed press the
orange M button and next to the toolbar there should be a lit up happy hour
premium icon click on it and log in and for a certain time you will have premium
status for a few hours and you can download any mega upload link and that
time period I suggest you download megamanager and install the program and
the toolbar that way you will be able to upload and download links very fast.
Remember the happy hour premium is from 9pm-3am so you have the chance
to get a premium account for some hours you usually get about 450 minutes if
you start right at 9 o' clock and that's alot of time to get the premium or any mega upload links you want. It's 6pm-12pm Pacific Time

By the way to get premium on megaupload FREE :
Step 1:Make an account

DOWNLOAD VIDEO HACK FOR MEGAVIDEO

You can easily download and save MegaVideo videos to your computer and watch them offline whenever you like.
Open your MegaVideo video in your browser and let it load fully
After you are done watching the video online, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Settings -> View Files (For IE)
Now you will get a large size file with long name and unknown type there
Copy and paste that file at desktop, this file is the video file in flv format
Rename it with flv extension, say e.g. MyMega.flv
I have tested the trick myself and it works great. See the screen below to get an idea what the file looks like and where to look for it (I tested the trick on Internet Explorer)

Notes:
Download and use FLV Player as you will be needing it to watch the downloaded videos.
Remember to close all browsers and applications while trying to copy the video file
Make sure you perform this trick using Internet Explorer and not Firefox. For Firefox users, they will have to manually themselves locate the Temporary Internet Files folder in order to get this trick to work.

works on veoh, youtube, stage6, or any sites where videos can be streamed.... but works for IE only....

By now I thought I would give up trying this. But now I'm determined to get this. I get all the way to the last page where you enter the code number. However, above that number are a list of things, only one that you can check. I also noticed that on that page you have more a list of things than I do. You have up there about 8. I do not have that many when I get to that page. Which box do I click to DL. I did DL one of them. Jut a letter appeared on my desk top. Well that blank white page.
Nothing would open it. Don't know what to open with. Ok, I'm going to keep asking questions until I get this darn thing or somebody comes to my house and does it for me. lol

The things you can select, are the servers to download from, I personally use cogent one, as it works the fastest for me, once you've entered the code and clicked the 'download' button, you should get a pop up window for saving the file you want to download and just save to where you want it.

The Hours are from 9pm until 3am Eastern Standard Time(est) The Happy hour box will show up when you are on the megaupload site after installing their toolbar. Once there, just click on it and you will be directed to a page notifying you of how much time is left of happy hour.

Some movies in the rapidshare section use hjsplit to split the movies up and to rejoin them you must use hjsplit to rejoin them, hjsplit is freeware software and wasy to use once you know how, here is a little tutorial to help you for joining files.

nice post.. i have one problem though, I had to reformat my computer and whenever i reinstall the toolbar it only installs on internet explorer. I used to the toolbar installed on firefox before i reformatted. Anyone know how to make it install on firefox? i have it set on default browser

To look through it, go to about:cache. If you're lucky, you'll find something.

The only issue with the FF cache, is for streaming items, it usually breaks them up into pieces. Very hard to figure out how the pieces go together.
